“Calm down…the world doesn’t revolve around you.”
We’ve heard it. We have said it. We’ve thought it-especially when someone gets too demanding or overbearing. And honestly, it makes sense. The world can’t revolve around just one person, right?
But the, a different corner of life says: With enough intention, manifestation, and focus-you can bend reality to your will.
Sounds kind of amazing. Empowering even. So… which one is it?
Can the world revolve around us? Should it? Does it?
The answer, I think, like most things in life, isn’t black or white. It somewhere in the blur of grey. Somewhere between humility and audacity.
Here’s what I have come to believe: My world should revolve around me. Not the world-just mine. Because really, how much control do we actually have over anyone else’s?
My world is mine to shape.
I get to decide who enters it, who stays, who no longer belongs. I decide what energies I allow in, and which I lovingly-or firmly – decline.
Letting everyone in, all the time, thinking that’s kindness?
That’s not kindness. That’s surrender.
That’s giving people free rein to wreck your space and call it love. And I’m done with that.
Most of all, I am responsible for what my world radiates. My emotions. My energy. My responses. We talk about that part all the time-but we gloss over it like it’s just another quote on a coffee mug.
But it’s not. It’s everything.
I choose what my world gives off. Even when others are throwing tantrums in theirs. Their anger doesn’t have to make my world boil. Their insecurity doesn’t get to erode my self-worth.
My world chooses peace. It chooses confidence. It chooses love.
Of course, not everything goes as planned. Some things will go wrong. And yes, other people’s worlds will crash into mine-sometimes hard. But I still get to decide: What gets in, What stays out, What shape my world takes.
And that’s powerful
So yes-my world revolves around me. Yours should revolve around you. And maybe, just maybe, if we each take care of our orbit….. our worlds won’t collide.
They’ll dance.
